Travelling by Road (A66)
From the East: M6 J40 - drive westwards along the A66 for approximately 17 miles (sign posted Workington Keswick A66 and Western Lake District North Lakes). When you reach the roundabout at the junction with the A5271, drive straight on at the roundabout and past the next turning into Keswick (B5289). Portinscale is the next turning on the left and is sign posted "Grange, Portinscale and Marinas" (approximately 1.2 miles from the roundabout).
*Once you have turned left, follow this road past the Farmers Arms Pub and up and over the brow of the hill. Skiddaw Croft is the third house on the left after the junction on the left. We have some parking (first come first served) at the rear of the property and we will show you how to drive to it when you arrive.
From the West: Travel along the A66 past the turning to "Braithwaite" and "Newlands Valley" on your right. The turning to Portinscale is after the A66 sweeps round to the left and is sign posted "Grange, Portinscale and Marinas".

By Train & Bus: The nearest train station is at Penrith.
Penrith, Carlisle and Kendal are served by fast, frequent Intercity Services from all over the country. The nearest railway station to Keswick is Penrith, on the West Coast Main Line, a distance of 17 miles. A bus service, taking forty minutes, connects Penrith railway station with Keswick Bus Station. Taxis from Keswick will meet trains at Penrith by prior arrangement.
National Express Rapide Services from London Victoria to the Lake District take approximately 6 1/2 hours.
At Penrith train station you can catch the X4 or X5 bus direct to Keswick bus station. At Keswick you will need to change and catch the 77 or 77A bus to Portinscale (stops running end of October to beginning of April each year). We are less than a 1 minute walk from the bus stop in Portinscale.
